Abstract: A large synoviocoele created after arthroscopic transection of the medial patellar ligament for refractory upward fixation of the patella.Image (a) shows the gross appearance of the large synoviocoele post-operatively.Image (b) shows the ultrasonographic appearance of the synoviocoele together with a large communicating defect in the joint capsule (arrow).Image (c) shows complete resolution of the synoviocoele without any intervention, showing that some, even large, iatrogenically created defects in a synovial capsule can repair spontaneously.
