Abstract: While researchers have addressed the experiences of Jewish students on US campuses after October 7, 2023, little attention has been given to the faculty who fought back against the anti-Israel bias, antizionism, and antisemitism that spread across colleges and universities after the Israel-Hamas War began. The academics and scholars who took initiative and spoke out against the hate speech and actions of student demonstrators and other faculty were few in number, and did so with little support. The main objective of this article is to explore what these scholars and academics did to try to lower the poisonous atmosphere on US campuses during the months that followed and up until the end of June 2024.Using a qualitative methodology, hourlong interviews were conducted and recorded with leading scholars and academics. These While attention has been given to the challenges that Jewish college students faced after the October 7, 2023 massacre, there has been little focus on US academics who stood up against antizionism, antisemitism, and anti-Israel bias in the aftermath.Hour-long recorded interviews were conducted with leading scholars and verbatim transcripts were studied for dominant themes. This a rticle d iscusses h ow t hese a cademics v iewed the atmosphere on US campuses concerning Israel and antisemitism before October 7 and from October 8 through June 2024.It highlights the vital support these academics provided Jewish students; their efforts t o c reate m ore b alanced p rogramming a round issues relating to the Israel-Hamas war; the initiatives they took when meeting with administrators. The a rticle a lso a ddresses w hether t hese a cademics b elieve t heir a ctions were impactful and provides their recommendations for the future.
