Abstract: The article discusses how the growth of public debt has become one of the main macroeconomic problems for both developed and developing countries. As of 2024, the ratio of global debt to GDP reached 92.3%. Moreover, according to forecasts, this indicator will continue to grow and become a great burden for future generations. The Republic of Armenia is no exception in this regard. Studies of a number of macroeconomic indicators show that despite the policy pursued by the RA government, which is aimed at reducing existing currency and interest risks and the volume of public debt, a solution to these problems has not yet been found. At the same time, in this regard, in addition to the policy pursued, the main challenge remains the decline in birth rates and labor migration.
