Health equity, disparities, and barriers to cervical cancer care in the U.S.: A consensus statement by SGO, ACOG, ASCCP, ASTRO, and ABS addressing the WHO cervical Cancer elimination campaign goals related to treatment
Year: 2025
Type: editorial
Abstract: In response to the WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Campaign, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology formed a task force that is charged with planning and implementing a multi-faceted approach to decreasing morbidity and mortality from cervical cancer in the United States (US) across the continuum of care and with an emphasis on treatment. As part of this effort, the task force assessed health equity, disparities and barriers to cervical cancer care, all of which contribute to outcomes in the US. This editorial highlights the current state of the barriers and suggests avenues for change to healthcare policy, advocacy, and payment to overcome these barriers.
