Abstract: Aim. To analyse the state of cereal genetic collections registered in NCPGRU, to identify problems and prospects for their further development. Methods. The analysis of the state of genetic collections was carried out by means of morphological analysis and analysis of literature sources. The prospects of molecular research methods, including the identification of individual genes and QTL mapping, were determined. Results. Among all registered types of grain collections, genetic ones accounted for 5 %. Along with the method of analysis of genes by phenotypic manifestation, the analysis and identification of individual genes and quantitative trait loci using molecular markers, mapping and functional analysis of individual genes are described. Conclusions. To create modern genetic collections of cereals, it is necessary to apply modern molecular approaches and analysis of modern scientific sources along with traditional methods of gene identification.
