Abstract: Human civilization demonstrates a consistent historical trajectory of expanding control over its environment to ensure survival. This pattern points toward an inevitable endpoint: mobile civilizations that can steer their own cosmic path, as any fixed world faces eventual termination from stellar evolution. While physics permits this transition, achieving such cosmic agency is contingent on solving the engineering challenge of energy density at scale.
