Abstract: This study aimed to facilitate the learning process for physiotherapy students regarding the management of the respiratory area of the patient with tracheostomy, through the pedagogical strategy of debriefing in clinical simulation. The research was conducted using a quantitative, pre-experimental evaluative approach, carried out with 22 physiotherapy students enrolled in the Cardiopulmonary Intervention course. Clinical simulation and surveys were used as techniques, with instruments including a characterization questionnaire, a test and an evaluative rubric based on debriefing, and a satisfaction survey. The results showed that initially the students had an insufficient and deficient performance regarding the management of the patient with tracheostomy in the simulated environment. After the application of the debriefing strategy, showed an acceptable performance with grades between 3.0 and 3.9. This allows us to conclude that debriefing is a strategy that promotes autonomy, reflective criticism, active listening and discernment in simulated situations, demanding maximum attention from the student, to make assertive decisions guaranteeing patient safety and the positive effect of intervention strategies or clinical evaluation when facing professional practice in the future.
