Cybersecurity Risks in AI-Driven Pension Management Platforms

Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into pension management platforms is transforming how retirement funds are administered, optimized, and secured. These platforms leverage predictive analytics, automated decision-making, and personalized investment strategies to enhance financial sustainability for individuals and institutions. However, their growing reliance on interconnected digital infrastructures exposes them to heightened cybersecurity risks. Threats such as adversarial attacks on AI models, data manipulation, insider threats, and breaches of sensitive personal and financial information undermine both platform reliability and user trust. Moreover, the increasing adoption of cloud-based services and third-party APIs introduces additional vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit. This study critically examines the cybersecurity risks unique to AI-driven pension management systems, exploring how advanced persistent threats, algorithmic manipulation, and data privacy violations could destabilize financial ecosystems. It also highlights the need for resilient security measures, including explainable AI, robust encryption, anomaly detection, and regulatory compliance frameworks tailored to financial technologies. By situating cybersecurity as a core pillar in the digital pension ecosystem, this paper underscores the imperative of balancing technological innovation with risk governance to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and long-term sustainability of AI-powered pension platforms.
