Abstract: The article defines the concept and term "fictionalized prose" in relation to the traditional definitions of "fiction", "mass literature", "high literature". The characteristic features of the prose of the mentioned varieties are highlighted by comparing and contrasting them with each other, taking into account the historical and cultural evolution of genre forms in fiction under the influence of social changes in society. The author develops his own point of view on the place of fiction and fictionalized prose in the modern literary process.
