Effect of simple motor exercise on motor adaptation in complex dynamic tasks: exploring age-related variations
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This research presents a novel approach to studying how motor repetition influences adaptation in dexterous manipulation. Departing from traditional reaching tasks, we used a dynamic manipulation paradigm where participants were adapting to dynamic perturbations after force- or movement-based repetition exercises. These tasks engaged predictive or feedback motor processes. Our design accounted for hand dominance and age-related differences, providing a comprehensive framework to investigate how prior motor experience shapes learning, adaptation, and transfer in hand control.
