Abstract: This article aims to investigate the application of the 5S system in a food industry laboratory, with the objective of demonstrating its impacts and benefits, promoting process organization, as well as increased safety and efficiency. The research adopts a qualitative methodological approach and uses a literature review to explore how the implementation of 5S can transform the work environment. For this, a case study was conducted in a laboratory. The analysis includes a detailed roadmap for implementing 5S, which ranges from forming a team to continuously monitoring its actions. The results demonstrate that the application of 5S promotes a significant increase in productivity, reduces waste and improves safety. However, key challenges include developing a good implementation roadmap and overcoming existing cultural barriers. Furthermore, 5S contributes to continuous improvement, optimizing the use of resources and increasing employee satisfaction. The conclusion highlights the importance of continued adherence to the 5S system and suggests that future research should focus on adapting 5S to different types of specific practices, as well as overcoming cultural and operational barriers to effective implementation.
