Room‐Temperature, High‐Resolution Soft Anisotropic Conductive Film for Electrical Interfacing in Stretchable Electronics
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: As stretchable electronic devices continue to shrink in size and increase in integration density, establishing robust and reliable connections between rigid and compliant components remains a significant challenge in the field of soft electronics. While anisotropic conductive films (ACFs) offer promise for high‐resolution electrical interfacing, conventional ACF technologies are hindered by issues such as interfacial instability, random conductive microparticle distribution, limited compatibility with diverse materials, and the need for high processing temperatures. In this work, a UV‐crosslinkable soft ACF based on photosensitive azide crosslinkers is introduced. Upon UV irradiation, fluorophenyl azides generate highly reactive nitrene species that result in the formation of a covalently crosslinked interface with a wide range of C–H‐containing materials. The interface bonded with the soft ACF exhibits exceptional mechanical stretchability and stable electrical performance even under substantial deformation. This soft ACF further demonstrates that it enables the direct integration of heat‐vulnerable commercial pressure sensors with stretchable conductors, achieving reliable electrical connections without failure. The approach provides a versatile, room‐temperature‐processable interconnection strategy that is simple, robust, and compatible with advanced soft conductors that are sensitive to elevated temperatures.
