Abstract: One of the ways to improve the performance of a machine-tractor unit is to use an elasticdamping drive (EDD) installed in close proximity to the drive wheels. Modern methods of simulation modeling and optimization allow finding rational parameters of the EDD or its characteristics at the design stage. The aim of the work was to find a set of methods for optimizing the parameters of the characteristic of such a drive. A methodology for finding the EDD characteristic based on simulation modeling and methods of multicriteria optimization of dynamic processes and model identification has been developed. It has been found that methods based on optimization of dynamic processes using a model identification tool are suitable for optimizing the EDD parameters. The Matlab application package with the Simulink simulation system has been used. As a result of the optimization, taking into account the design limitations, a polynomial dependence of the change in the elastic moment on the twist angle was obtained, which more than 2 times reduces the amplitude of oscillations in the transmission. The oscillation damping time has also decreased by 50%. In this case, the maximum twist angles reached values of about 0.15–0.16 rad. The methods used allowed us to estimate the working branch of the characteristic. And with the help of regression, the elasticity model of the EDD was refined in the zone of high deformations. The methodology presented in the work allows us to optimize not only individual parameters of the model, but also to find rational patterns and characteristics within the working process studied on the simulation model, and with the help of regression and approximation methods to extrapolate it to the zone of large deformations of elastic elements.
