Abstract: African organizations struggle to translate environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments into results amid uneven regulation, informality, and financing frictions. Using Olam International’s Africa operations as an illustrative case and grounded analysis of secondary sources, this study presents an Africa-specific framework and a concise path for adoption. The guidance covers governance alignment, materiality-led prioritization, supplier traceability pilots, community engagement mechanisms, transition-oriented financing options, and disclosure readiness. This study outlines metrics, partner archetypes, and risk mitigants tailored to African realities. This article offers guidance for multinationals and African SMEs, highlights transferability across sectors and countries, and closes with policy pointers to align corporate ESG with local development priorities.
