Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Compared with ordinary students, students with hearing impairment face more challenges and difficulties in the process of career choice. This study takes high school students with hearing impairment in special education schools in J City, Guangdong Province as the research object, and explores their career choice motivation and its influencing reasons in depth through questionnaire survey and data analysis. It was found that their career choice motives were diversified, mainly including solving economic problems, satisfying hobbies and interests, and obtaining work achievements. Further analysis reveals that the career choice motivation of hearing impaired high school students is jointly influenced by multiple reasons such as personal, family, school and society. Individual reasons include self-perception, hobbies and learning attitudes; family reasons involve family dependence, economic status and family education; school reasons cover vocational education, career guidance and services, and school atmosphere; and social reasons include the employment situation, social prejudice and discrimination, and policy support and protection. Based on the results of the study, measures such as strengthening social work intervention, integrating school social resources, advocating social inclusion and equality, and striving for policy support and guarantee are proposed to provide a fairer and more inclusive employment environment for hearing impaired high school students, and to promote their smooth integration into the society and the realization of their career dreams.
