A Long-term Quasiperiodic Disk Around the Be Star QR Vul
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Be stars are non-supergiant B stars that rotate rapidly and show evidence of an equatorial decretion disk. The disks are variable in time and strength, but are usually unpredictable. We report on spectra from the Be Star Spectra archive that indicate that the Be star QR Vul has a quasi-periodic property in its disk strength, where the largest disk phases seem to be modulated on a ∼4.36 yr cycle. We speculate on two possible causes.
