Status of bacterial inoculants for micronutrientssolubilization in perspective of Seed spicescrops: a review

Year: 2025
Type: review
Abstract: Bacterial inoculants play a crucial role in improving soil fertility andenhancing plant nutrition by facilitating the solubilization of essentialmicronutrients in agricultural ecosystems. Their ability to mobilizemicronutrients is crucial for optimizing both the yield and quality ofseed spice crops. This review provides a comprehensiveassessment of bacterial inoculants and their efficacy in solubilizingkey micronutrients such as zinc, iron, manganese, and copper, with aparticular focus on seed spice cultivation. It highlights themechanisms employed by various bacterial species to enhancemicronutrient availability and discusses their potential applications insustainable agriculture. Given the small seed size of spice crops, germination remains a significant challenge, adding complexity totheir cultivation. The review also examines the factors that influencethe effectiveness of bacterial inoculants, including soilcharacteristics, environmental conditions, and agronomicmanagement practices. Additionally, it addresses the challenges andlimitations associated with their application in seed spice productionand suggests potential strategies for overcoming these constraints.Emphasizing the need for continued research and innovation, thisreview underscores the significance of bacterial inoculants inpromoting sustainable micronutrient solubilization for improved seedspice productivity.
