Abstract: We present a practical toolbox for identifying Vibrio natriegens in laboratory cultures, based on observable phenotypes and species-specific PCR. This workflow enables fast discrimination of V. natriegens from Escherichia coli K-12 and derivatives and microbial contaminants without sequencing or specialized equipment.
