Mesons as Fractal Resonance States: A Unified Fractal Quantum Field Theory (UFQFT) Perspective
Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the properties of mesons within the framework of the Unified Fractal Quantum Field Theory (UFQFT). Unlike the Standard Model, where mesons are described as quarkantiquark bound states interacting through gauge bosons, UFQFT interprets them as transient fractal resonance modes of the unified energy (Φ) and charge (Ψ) fields. This geometric approach links resonance stability to the fractal dimension D of the underlying spacetime, allowing a direct connection between field mismatches and particle lifetimes. We present a generalized formulation of meson decay lifetimes based on Φ-Ψ resonance mismatches and introduce an interaction model that captures both linear and nonlinear contributions. The proposed model successfully reproduces the experimental lifetime hierarchy of π, K, D, and B mesons, highlighting the role of nonlinear stabilization when energy and charge mismatches co-occur. Our results suggest that mesons, as resonance states, provide a natural testing ground for UFQFT, offering new perspectives on CP violation, matter-antimatter asymmetry, and the interplay between quantum chromodynamics and fractal spacetime geometry.
