Abstract: For training in Physics didactics, developing research competencies from the selection process is essential, therefore, systematizing online courses to select graduate candidates is important for institutions, as it incorporates human resources with graduation potential. Addressing this need, an online course was optimized through an instructional model for the development of a doctoral preliminary project, innovating how to select candidates and the course structure. Activities were structured according to cognitive taxonomies, using assessment tools such as checklists, rubrics, and an evaluation matrix. A preparatory course was redesigned, implemented and analyzed using the ADDIE model. The methodology was mixed, incorporating a qualitative approach, and action research was conducted. Data analysis utilized descriptive statistics. Only 16 of the 31 candidates demonstrated skills in retrieval, comprehension, analysis, use of knowledge, and metacognition; some could manage their time and refine and strengthen their research skills and probably demonstrate procedural knowledge. The research showed that the ADDIE model provides tools for creating virtual courses geared toward developing a logical and sequential structure in candidates, enabling them to propose a feasible doctoral preliminary project in Physics didactics.
