The Role of Growth Mindset in Enhancing Contemporary Educational Psychology

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: The present study investigates the role of growth mindset in enhancing contemporary educational psychology among students in Punjab, with a focus on the districts of Amritsar and Jalandhar. A total of 300 students were surveyed using a structured questionnaire to assess key indicators such as academic motivation, resilience, self-efficacy, learning strategies, teacher support, and emotional well-being. Descriptive statistics revealed that Amritsar students reported higher mean scores across all parameters, including academic performance, compared to Jalandhar students. Independent samples t-tests confirmed significant differences between the two districts, while correlation analysis highlighted strong positive associations between growth mindset and psychological indicators, particularly self-efficacy and academic achievement. The distribution analysis further indicated that a larger proportion of Amritsar students exhibited a high growth mindset orientation, whereas Jalandhar students were predominantly clustered in the moderate category. Visual analyses, through scatter and radar plots, reinforced these findings by illustrating the consistent link between growth mindset and higher academic performance, as well as the comparative advantage of Amritsar students across multiple psychological domains. These results underscore the critical importance of embedding growth mindset principles into teaching practices, strengthening teacher support, and creating supportive learning environments to foster resilience, confidence, and motivation. By addressing district-level disparities, educational institutions in Punjab can leverage growth mindset as a transformative tool for improving both academic outcomes and student well-being.
