Abstract: From the second half of the 20th century onwards, the rapid influx of migrants to the cities caused not only the creation of new urban centers, but also a collapse in Brazilian cities. In this context of urban and housing crisis, the Brazilian state has used public social housing policies to try to minimize this damage. Based on this assumption, this work aims to analyze the contributions of social housing policy to the production of urban space, using the housing estates of José Damasceno and Timbaúba de Todos, in the city of Timbaúba dos Batistas, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in Brazil's semi-arid region, as its spatial focus. To this end, the methodological procedures used consisted of bibliographical research, statistical data collection and empirical analysis through observation in the town. As a result, it was possible to conclude that the social housing policy has made significant contributions to the production of space in the small town of Timbaúba dos Batistas.
