Abstract: This study aims, in a preliminary manner, to map the Pará music scene in the city of Curitiba. To this end, we analyze two events that, although presented as "Pará music parties," differ radically in terms of production, promotion, sound, audience attire, interactions, dance performances, and beverage consumption. Examining these elements allows us to understand different ways of claiming authenticity and upholding the label "Pará music party." One event revealed a pedagogical and detached intention of introducing Pará music to non-Pará audiences, while the other used music as a unifying element for a migrant community of people from Pará living in Curitiba.
