Cover Feature: Exploring Acrylic Acid as an Oxirane Nucleophile: Direct Access to Poly(β‐Hydroxy Acrylates) (ChemSusChem 18/2025)

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The Cover Feature shows ring-opening acrylation with acrylic acid, which enables a scalable, high-yield route to β-hydroxy acrylates via direct reaction with oxiranes (epoxides). This simple, atom-economic process yields monomers for transparent, thermally stable polymers with tunable mechanical properties, ranging from soft and stretchable to stiff and strong. The work highlights the potential of acrylic acid in next-generation sustainable materials. More information can be found in the Research Article by P. Olsen and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/cssc.202500575).
