Convivendo com as catástrofes: vídeos sobre crise climática no TikTok Brasil

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article analyzes the presence of the climate crisis theme on TikTok Brazil. The aim was to investigate how discourses about the climate crisis are formed in the videos that gain the most repercussion on this platform, which agents participate in this discursive production, and how the various social actors are activated and implicated in the phenomenon. The analysis of the 162 videos collected in 2024 considered formal aspects and the texts spoken and posted in the captions, in order to identify the most relevant discourses. The predominance of video selfies with corroborative images, the repercussions of extreme climate events, and the realization by content creators that we are already experiencing the effects of the climate crisis, opposing deniers, stand out. The study also reveals the significant presence of female environmental cyberactivists.
