Impact of Pretrigger Progesterone on Conception Rate in Controlled Ovarian Hyperstimulation and Intrauterine Insemination Cycles

Type: article
Abstract: Progesterone plays a critical role in the process of implantation by inducing significant changes in the endometrial morphology that are prerequisites for embryo attachment and invasion.Controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) and intrauterine insemination (IUI) have been designated as a choice of treatment for unexplained infertility and male factor infertility.Addition of COH to IUI increases the number of oocytes available for fertilization and the risk of premature luteinizing hormone (LH) surge and progesterone as well. 1 Elevated progesterone levels have been associated with premature LH surge, but some studies also indicate that it may be due to exposure to high doses of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) [2][3][4] or as a result of high estrogen.Progesterone levels start to rise about 12 hours before the start of the ovulation. The endometrial maturation is
