Abstract: normal intrauterine gestational sac and yolk sac measuring 2.5 mm.A crown-rump length (CRL) of 5 mm was noted, equivalent to 6 +0 weeks of gestation.A fetal pole and cardiac activity were detected. No hematoma was found. IntroductIonChromosomal abnormalities occur in approximately 1 out of 150 live births. The incidence of fetal chromosomal abnormalities increases with maternal age, but it can affect patients at any age and is not related to race or ethnicity.1 An early scan at 11 up to 13 + 6 weeks of gestation allows early anatomical assessment of the fetus. 2 Early pregnancy risk assessment and suspicion of chromosomal or severe structural abnormalities allow early decision management regarding continuation or termination of pregnancy, and even safer methods of pregnancy termination. However, early screening and identification of an affected fetus forces parents to make difficult decisions about terminating a pregnancy that may have been lost naturally within a few weeks without this information.3 case descrIptIon A 33-year-old patient came to our department for the combined first-trimester screening at 13 +1 weeks of gestation. She had an episode of fever and symptoms of catarrh in the first few weeks of pregnancy. Her family history was negative for congenital anomalies or genetic abnormalities and without a history of teratogenic exposition. She previously had two transvaginal ultrasounds performed in other departments, at 6 +1 and 7 +4 weeks of gestation.A transvaginal ultrasound performed at 6 +1 weeks showed an anteverted and anteflexed uterus with a 1,4,
