Bayesian and non-Bayesian statistical analysis of disability and radiation data: Utilizing a new generalization of the Komal distribution

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study presents a detailed statistical analysis of the prevalence and characteristics of disability in Saudi Arabia, based on the 2023 Disability Survey. The survey targeting individuals aged two years and above. The results indicate that 2. 9% of the population live with severe or complete disabilities, with a higher proportion experiencing multiple disabilities (58.5%) compared to single disabilities (41.5%). The analysis reveals different age and gender patterns: mobility impairments dominate in older adults (18+), vision impairments are more prevalent in early childhood, and communication difficulties are relatively higher among younger males. These findings underscore the need for targeted interventions, age-specific rehabilitation programs, and inclusive policy frameworks. The analysis based on a second data set, which incorporates remission durations (in months) following radiotherapy for a randomly selected cohort of bladder cancer patients. The new proposed distribution, called the Harris extended Komal distribution (HEKD), is potentially regarded an improved Komal distribution (KD). According to the HEKD probability density curves, HEKD is very important to evaluate disability in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and radiation data. Because the hazard rate function for HEKD can have increasing or decreasing functions, researchers have a great deal of flexibility when creating statistical models for studies that combine disability with radiation data. Several important statistical features of the HEKD are calculated, such as quantile function, moments, skewness, kurtosis, incomplete moments, moment generating function and order statistics. Using Bayesian and non-Bayesian methodologies, we estimate the HEKD parameters using data related to radiation and disabilities. Three data sets for radiation fields and disability in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the suggested distribution. The HEKD compared to fifteen statistical distributions such as power XLindley distribution, Weibull Lomax distribution, Lindley distribution, exponentiated generalized power Lindley distribution, XLindley distribution, Weibull power Lindley distribution, half-logistic Weibull distribution, half-logistic new Weibull Pareto distribution, half-logistic exponential distribution, half-logistic Pareto distribution, Kumaraswamy Lindley distribution, extended Lindley distribution, exponentiated generalized power Lindley distribution, Zeghdoudi distribution, and KD. Because of its better fit capabilities, the HEKD has been suggested as a solution to modeling data fit in more complicated sectors that involve disability.
