Abstract: Shrimp and crabs are common crustaceans and are important source of food. Shrimp production sector provides immediate economic benefits, contributes to poverty reduction, human health, and environmental sustainability, and generates employment from seed collectors to exporters subsequently reducing dependency on wild shrimp catches. Its global and national production status has been provided. Shrimp contributes significantly to human health that has been covered in detail. Method of its cleaning, and preparation has been provided for the ease of the consumer. Role of Pakistan in present shrimp production, export and future shrimp prospects have also been discussed in detail.
