To evaluate lifestyle in patients with type 2 diabetes at HGZ/MF No. 12. A quantitative, observational, prospective, descriptive study was conducted in 380 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus over 20 years of age at the General Hospital of the Zone with Family Medicine No. 12 who agreed to participate in the study. A lifestyle survey was administered. 98.4% of patients presented an inadequate lifestyle, particularly poor nutrition (72.6%). Only 1.6% maintained an adequate lifestyle. Most patients with an inadequate lifestyle were diagnosed within the last 5 years. The majority were men, pensioners, those with primary education, and those treated with insulin. Prevention of type 2 diabetes in patients at HGZ MF No. 12 depends on lifestyle changes. Promoting healthy habits, self-care, and educational strategies are crucial to reducing risks and improving quality of life.
