Abstract: Background: Tobacco Quitline Services provide telephone-based counseling to stop tobacco use in any form. The objective of this research is to estimate the prevalence of tobacco use and associated disease burden with respect to socio-demographic characteristics in India.Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, the data for the research were collected from the National Tobacco Quitline Services (NTQLS), Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI), University of Delhi, from the duration between May 2016 and May 2022.A total of 2,56,964 responses were used in the data. All the analyses were performed using R Studio version 485 and Excel 2016.Results: Between May 2016 and May 2022, a total of 2,56,964 individuals were registered with NTQLS.The majority used smokeless tobacco (1,74,916; 68.07%), followed by smoking tobacco (49,640; 19.32%) and dual users (32,408; 12.61%).Most callers were from Uttar Pradesh (31.21%) and Rajasthan (23.07%), with only seven calls from Mizoram.Overall, 10.84% reported tobacco-attributable diseases-0.66% had hypertension, 1.05% had chronic conditions (cancer, stroke, heart attack), and others experienced symptoms like breathlessness and anxiety.Among smokeless tobacco users, 10.33% had diseases, compared to 12.03% among smokers.Smoking tobacco users showed significantly higher disease risk (p < 0.0001).Additionally, adults were more likely to report related illnesses than youth. Conclusion: Compared to smokeless tobacco, smoking tobacco has a more negative impact.A timely and thorough assessment of the diseases associated with tobacco use emphasizes the necessity of reducing the health burden tobacco use has on the nation and the world.
