Abstract: Throughout history, artillery has been regarded as the “king of battle,” playing a decisive role in military operations with its large-scale destructive power. Particularly in the wars of the 20th century, artillery was considered the main pillar of both offensive and defensive operations. However, the effectiveness of traditional fire support largely depended on the quality of observation and target detection. Conventional methods—such as the use of ground observation posts, aerial photography, and signals intelligence—were often unable to keep pace with the high dynamics of modern warfare, limiting both accuracy and responsiveness of fire missions.
