Abstract: From ancient times to the present day, Yavne has been an important center for several ancient cultures, a fact reflected in numerous archaeological excavations conducted throughout the modern city and its surroundings. Yavne was inhabited and flourished in nearly every period from the Late Chalcolithic to the modern era. This article focuses on the Hellenistic period, combining analysis of ancient sources, historical research, and the results of extensive archaeological excavations in Yavne and its environs conducted in recent years .
