Type: article
Abstract: Export Introduction: Since ancient times, heavy metals have been included in Ayurvedic remedies with claims of efficacy and safety. However, concerns over the toxicity of heavy metal use in Ayurvedic preparations are frequently highlighted. The goal of the current research was to validate the safety of Bruhata vata Chintamani Rasa by a subchronic toxicity investigation in albino Wistar rats that were carried out in compliance with Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development guidelines408. Methods: The control animals were given vehicle (water and honey), while the test groups were treated with doses of 51.36 mg/kg, 205.4 mg/kg, and 513.6 mg/kg of Bruhata vata Chintamani Rasa. The effects of the treatment on clinical signs, urine analysis, biochemical estimation, hematological examination, and histological findings were studied. Result and Conclusion: The results suggested that Bruhata vata Chintamani Rasa did not show any toxicity related signs or symptoms at any of the doses tested. Although some alterations were found in some biochemical findings and relative organ weight, no abnormalities were found in the urine analysis, hematological, or histopathological parameters. It can be concluded that Bruhata vata Chintamani Rasa was safe at subchronic toxicity study in rats and can be preferred for possible therapeutic use.
