Abstract: Abstract Abstract Sustainability has long been a pressing issue in the built environment, but it has yet to gain significant momentum in the field of interior architecture and design. This study set out to understand the barriers that make implementing sustainable practices in these areas difficult. To do this, 187 responses were gathered through a questionnaire listing 30 possible challenges, and the data was analyzed using RII and EFA techniques. The research found that the most significant hurdles are a lack of knowledge and awareness, followed by government regulations, economics, attitudes, market demand, technology, and training issues. The insights from this study could be helpful to professionals like interior architects and designers, as well as academics, policymakers, and regulatory bodies. By highlighting a detailed list of obstacles, the study addresses a gap in the existing literature and sets the stage for further research into sustainable interior design practices.
