Abstract: The pedagogical profile of a contemporary teacher represents a fundamental question in pedagogy, didactics, and methodology. It encompasses a combination of personal qualities, general knowledge, and competencies, along with unique characteristics of specific subject areas. As a result, the pedagogical profile of teachers in different fields inherently involves a degree of both authenticity and complexity. This paper aims to analyze the pedagogical profile of music teachers and its multidimensional nature, considering key components, personal characteristics, and the distinctive concept of a ’dual identity’. Whether in the context of solo singing, general music instruction in primary and secondary schools, or specialized music schools, teachers encounter specific demands that require the integration of their personal capacities, pedagogical-psychological insights, didactic-methodological expertise, and subject-specific competencies. The role of a music teacher inherently necessitates a combination of instructional and performative skills, enabling teachers to effectively fulfill roles such as performers, conductors, critics, mentors, and instructors, all of which contribute to successful teaching practice. Given these multifaceted responsibilities, contemporary studies increasingly highlight the significance of a model that emphasizes the unique or preferred personal and professional attributes essential for music teachers. Key personal qualities that contribute to the effective fulfillment of the teaching role in music education include warmth, cheerfulness, kindness, openness, persuasiveness, emotional sensitivity, sentimentality, nobility, empathy, altruism, aesthetic refinement, and a heightened appreciation for artistic expression. Furthermore, research studies identifie a unique set of characteristics specific to music teachers, encompassing a deep passion for music, professionalism, creativity, adaptability, strong communication and organizational skills, self-discipline, a positive attitude, patience, enthusiasm. The professional attributes of music teachers encompass distinctive qualities and skills essential for effectively carrying out both pedagogical responsibilities and performancerelated activities. These include comprehensive musical training, proficient performance abilities, mastery of musical instruments, a well-developed sense of pitch and vocal skills, heightened aesthetic perception, as well as pedagogical expertise and the ability to apply appropriate instructional strategies. The presented components, personal attributes, and characteristics of music teachers ultimately reinforce the distinctive concept of a ’dual identity’ within this teaching profile, arising from their multifaceted role in the education process. This notion of ’dual identity’ highlights the interplay between two interconnected yet distinct roles that music teachers fulfill: that of a music pedagogue and that of a performing musician. The demonstrated multidimensionality of the pedagogical profile of music teachers, along with the inherent complexity of their dual identity, highlights both the breadth and research intricacy of this subject, as well as the significance and necessity of its systematic analysis. For these reasons, this study is dedicated to examining this issue, offering a modest contribution to its structured understanding while also paving the way for new research questions and initiatives.
