Os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável em ação na aula de Língua Portuguesa pistas rumo à inovação pedagógica em São Tomé e Príncipe

Abstract: This study reflects, on the one hand, on the urgency of integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the teaching of the Portuguese language in São Tomé and Príncipe and, on the other hand, on the pressing need to update and innovate both teaching practices and the educational materials currently in circulation. Given the São Toméan context, in which several SDGs remain far from being achieved, we believe that schools can play a key role in raising awareness among younger generations. For this awareness to be effectively fostered, a revision of pedagogical practices and supporting materials is deemed essential, aiming to make them more appealing to 21st-century learners, more inclusive of local culture, and more attuned to the need for educatingcritical and active citizens who are aware of their role in the world and the challenges faced within their sociocultural environment. In this regard, gamification is presented as a didactic strategy with the potential to engage students more deeply in their learning process.Furthermore, a didactic proposal is introduced, designed for Portuguese language classes in the seventh and eighth grades of Basic Education, which incorporates local specificities, promotes the development of students’ critical thinking, and aligns with the principles of the SDGs through a holistic approach to competence development supported by gamification.
