Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study seeks to examine the effect of spiritual leadership on job alienation using a descriptive quantitative approach. A questionnaire was administered to 420 employees working in public banks in the eastern regions of Algeria through purposive non random sampling. Of the questionnaires distributed, 385 were recovered and considered valid for statistical analysis, which was conducted using SPSS V.26. The findings revealed a high level of spiritual leadership and low levels of job alienation. Spiritual leadership was also found to have a negative effect on job alienation, owing to the negative effects of Work autonomy support, organizational membership, and psychological optimism, whereas inspirational vision and organizational compassion had no effect. Organizational membership and psychological optimism likewise had negative effects on job powerlessness, while inspirational vision, organizational compassion, and Work autonomy support showed no effect. The same pattern was observed with regard to meaninglessness at work. Organizational membership and psychological optimism had negative effects, whereas inspirational vision, organizational compassion, and Work autonomy support had no effect. The findings further showed that Work autonomy support and organizational membership had negative effects on social isolation at work, while inspirational vision, organizational compassion, and psychological optimism had no effect. On the basis of these findings, a number of recommendations were put forward for public banks in Algeria.
