Abstract: In November 1945, the first issue of the Boletín de la Sociedad Argentina de Botánica was published, featuring a letter to the reader by Prof. Lorenzo R. Parodi. In it, he expressed the intention of facilitating readers’ research, creating the conditions to compile the results of publications from abroad, coordinating explorations in scarcely visited regions, improving the conditions of herbaria, and preserving native vegetation, among other aims—all with the clear objective of fostering a sense of community among botanists in the country
