Methodology for Modelling Fatigue Strength Accumulation Processes in Cutting Tools Using Random Process Descriptions
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Most applications of probability theory in natural sciences involve the construction and study of a random process that describes the mathematical model of the phenomenon under investigation. The general mathematical theory of random processes focuses on studying a rather limited set of such processes. The theory of random processes is a scientific discipline based on probability theory and has found application in various fields of science and engineering. While traditional probability theory studies instantaneous situations, the theory of random processes examines various phenomena over time that are under the influence of random factors. This work considers a broad class of point processes that can be applied to analyse damage accumulation in metals.
