Abstract: Language of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Selected Issues The subject of this article is the language of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, analysed not from the perspective of linguistic correctness, but rather from the viewpoint of the usage of linguistic expressions within a legal act. It addresses the question of whether the text of a legal act of fundamental importance to the state’s political system meets the requirements for clarity of regulation and its comprehensibility for its addressees, which include not only state authorities but also citizens. We consider the identity of terms appearing in the Constitution in different forms, such as “citizen” and “Polish citizen”. We also address general constitutional terms, for example, “justice”, and their impact on the interpretation of norms. The conclusions are directed towards entities drafting legislative texts that must be consistent with the Constitution. Clarifying constitutional ambiguities is of fundamental importance for future legislation.
