Abstract: Currently, in the new social and educational realities, the level of importance of studying the psychological well-being of families raising children with disabilities has increased. This article examines in detail the issue of the study of social representations in Russian and foreign psychology. The emphasis is on studying the specifics of the relationship between parents and children with disabilities. The issue of solving problems related to the formation of ideas about the relationship between parents and children is highlighted. An empirical study of the ideas about the relationship between father and child in children with disabilities was conducted in the state budgetary special correctional educational institution Kaliningrad Secondary Boarding School. The practical application of the results of this study is reflected in psychological recommendations for optimizing the ideas of fathers and children about establishing mutual relations. This article is intended as a recommendation.
