Study of the distribution of rare elements in the Daghkasaman deposit and determination of their economic significance

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The presented scientific-research article is dedicated to the study of the rare elements distributed in the ore masses of the Daghkasaman deposit, located in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and to the determination of their economic importance. As is known, rare elements are widely used in industry. The appropriate methods of exploiting these elements are being further improved. Potential conditions for development of the oil and mining industry have been created in our country. Ore mineral deposits such as Gedabek gold-copper deposit, Dashkasan iron ore deposit, Tulallar gold deposit, Dash Salahli bentonite clay deposit, Gadir deposit, etc. are being exploited in our country. Non-ore mineral deposits are also successfully exploited in the Republic of Azerbaijan. One of the pyrite-polymetallic deposits located in the Republic of Azerbaijan is the Daghkasaman deposit. The amount of gold and silver in the Daghkasaman deposit varies over a wide range. Rare elements are also widely distributed in the deposit. It is important to study the distribution of precious elements along with rare elements in the deposit area. In this article, general information about the Daghkasaman deposit is given and its primary and secondary minerals are indicated. A large number of test samples were collected and analyzed to study the composition of ore masses from the deposit area. The chemical and mineralogical composition of the test samples was determined. In addition, the amount of microcomponents in the test samples was determined. The results are discussed at the end of the paper. The results of the X-ray diffraction analysis of the test samples show that rare elements are widely distributed in the ores. The studies show that these elements in the Daghkasaman deposit are widely distributed in the north-western area. Among the rare elements, vanadium, strontium, zirconium, and cadmium are in a leading position compared to other rare elements in the investigated test samples. Small amounts of nickel, molybdenum, and cobalt elements are also found in the test samples. The analysis of the chemical composition of the test samples shows that the amount of silica, aluminium oxide and iron oxide is higher and the amount of chromium (III) oxide and barium oxide is lower. The low content of sulphuric anhydrite in some test samples indicates that these samples are composed of lower amounts of sulphides. In addition, the mineralogical analysis of the test samples shows that quartz is the dominant mineral.
