Abstract: The aim of the research is to identify the preferred coping strategies of high school students with visual impairments compared to their normally sighted peers. The article analyzes psychological-pedagogical and special literature on the problem of stress resistance and its characteristics in individuals with visual impairments. Using mathematical statistics, the verification of the normal distribution of the studied parameters is presented. A comparative descriptive characteristic of the features and preferences for the selection of coping strategies among blind and visually impaired high school students is carried out in comparison with normally sighted peers. A comparative analysis of the trends in the choices of coping behavior among high school students from two experimental and one control group is given according to socio-demographic indicators (gender, age). The scientific novelty of this study lies in the identified specific options for coping strategies preferred by blind and visually impaired high school students and the peculiarities of their manifestations. The result of the work was the substantiation of the need to expand the range of psycho-correctional work to overcome stressful situations by blind and visually impaired high school students.
