Research on the temperature radius stratification model based on electrochemical-thermal-force coupling in Lithium-ion batteries
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Lithium-ion battery (LIB) aging is crucial for performance and safety. This study uses an electrochemical-thermal-mechanical (ETM) coupling model with the temperature-radius stratification method to investigate aging behavior and capacity attenuation under high-rate charging/discharging. It focuses on SEI formation/distribution, thermal dynamics, diffusion-induced stress (DIS), and cut-off voltage impacts. As C-rate rises, heat generation increases, reducing heat dissipation efficiency and thermal stability, with the positive electrode degrading more severely. Uneven SEI distribution and concentration accelerate capacity attenuation. Positive electrode has higher von Mises stress and lower lithium ion concentration. Adjusting cut-off voltages can mitigate capacity loss. This study offers a framework for optimizing battery design and strategies, with future research suggested on complex aging factors.
