Attitudes towards international exchange among social workers in the Asian context: An online survey
Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study examined the factors, including indigenous knowledge, which influence practitioners’ attitudes towards the international exchange of social work ideas. A total of 228 valid questionnaire responses were obtained from self-identified social workers in selected Asian countries, and quantitative analysis was mainly employed to examine the factors shaping participants’ knowledge of and expectations for international exchange in social work. The findings revealed that, alongside past experiences of international exchange and residence abroad, participants’ understanding of indigenous social work practices and knowledge significantly shaped their perceptions of international exchanges. The findings indicate the importance of sharing a diverse range of indigenous knowledge and local perspectives.
