Abstract: Naogaon is a district in the northern part of modern Bangladesh. It can be said to be rich in various archaeological sites. One such ancient and historical site there is the Halud Vihara. It can be said that it is on the verge of extinction. The site bears witness to the history and traditions of ancient non-sectarian Bengal. More precisely, it can be said that the Halud Vihara is the ruin of an ancient Buddhist monastery. The majority of it is currently in danger of being destroyed. The site has now become a grazing ground. It is naturally difficult to tell the truth. But the truth is always the truth. And the reason for this is nothing more than a kind of indifference on the part of the authorities; this is cruel but true. Locals complain that the authorities are not taking excellent care of this ancient monastery. Since it is a historical Buddhist monastery, domestic and foreign tourists who utilised to visit the Paharpur Buddhist Monastery used to come here and visit the Halud Vihara. Students from within the country would come on educational tours to see the Halud Vihara. In addition, foreign tourists would participate in pilgrimages, because Buddhist philosophy places great importance on pilgrimages. Considering the need for time, it is absolutely necessary to renovate the monastery. Along with this, it is also absolutely necessary to preserve the Halud Vihara. At the same time, it is absolutely necessary to prevent the entry of unwanted cows and goats by building a boundary wall around the monastery. It is believed that these steps will also help protect the sanctity of the monastery. The antiquity of the Halud Vihara and its future prospects are discussed in this article.
