Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The global semiconductor market is a key indicator of technological development and the competitiveness of countries and companies. Competition in this sector has strategic and geopolitical significance. The aim of this study is to analyze the competition for high-tech leadership in the global semiconductor market. The study is based on a comprehensive analysis of secondary data, statistical indicators, and forecast estimates. A comparative approach is used to identify the dynamics of regional market shares and the concentration of market capitalization of leading companies. Geopolitical factors, investment programs, and technological leadership strategies are analyzed. It is revealed that market capitalization and revenues are concentrated among a small number of leading companies, and geopolitical and government policies have a significant impact on the formation of global value chains. This paper systematizes statistical data on production volumes and company revenues, compares regional markets, assesses the impact of government investment programs, and characterizes the concentration of market assets and technological advantages. The dynamics of the global semiconductor market for 2015–2025 are summarized, identifying cyclical fluctuations in volume and revenue. A high concentration of capitalization and revenue within a limited number of leading companies (NVIDIA, TSMC, Samsung, ASML) is identified. Regional characteristics are systematized: the Asia-Pacific region maintains its leading position in production, while the United States and Europe concentrate intellectual property and software development. The influence of geopolitical factors and government investment programs on the repatriation of production capacity and the development of national technological ecosystems is characterized. Key strategic areas of global technological leadership are identified. Directions for further research on the diversification of production and supply chains are proposed. The results can be used to model global value chains and assess the concentration of technological assets. The data obtained can be used to formulate government support strategies and corporate planning in the semiconductor industry. The article is empirical.
