Abstract: The main objective of this research is to identify how female empowerment can strengthen the capabilities and confidence of women, generating greater participation and leadership within a social group, during the development of #MeToo in Colombia and Chile from 2017 to 2021. The approach was descriptive, comparative and qualitative, developed through consultation with news sources and social events that report complaints of harassment against women, and from authors referring to the topic of feminism and leadership such as Simone de Beauvoir and Bernard M. Bass. As a result, it is observed that this movement made public sexual harassment, gender and salary inequality, and discrimination based on race and social status. Which allowed us to conclude that #MeToo helped women raise their voices and report, generating empathy and leadership, evidencing sexual harassment as a social problem and not only as an individual crime.
