Abstract: The aim of this article is to summarise the history of the reception of Arthur Rimbaud's poetic work in the Czech environment, which extends over more than 150 years. On the basis of published translations, introductory texts, reviews of translations and academic studies, we trace the evolution of the reception of the poet's work and its interpretation in relation to the historical, social and political transformations of the Czech environment. From the first echoes and pioneering translations at the end of the nineteenth century to the present day, the emphasis is placed on the particular features of this reception, which is profoundly influenced by the historical, social and political conditions of the context of the target culture. The reception of Rimbaud's work thus appears to be a perpetual process and a constant challenge to translators and critics.
